Strawberries & Condensed Milk

Honestly, almost nothing is more simple and delicious than strawberries drenched in condensed milk. Last winter, hubby and I went strawberry picking in the green houses in the countryside of Japan. They let you pick and eat all the strawberries you want for 30 minutes at a price of about $15 and they hand you a little container full of condensed milk. You can eat the whole green house full of strawberries but you can't get seconds on the condensed milk. Needless to say, we found ourselves running out of the condensed milk within the first 5 minutes...

You know, this is actually a really great idea! I bet it's even better than cool whip because it's richer/creamier :). I made strawberry pancakes for breakfast, I'm in loove with strawberries - they're so pretty and tasty. I might just have to try a dairy-free alternative to this dish. I don't drink much milk these days, but I'd really like to find out what this tastes like :).

My hubby can put a can of condensed milk to his mouth and drink the whole thing, but it is way to sweet for me. The strawberries could give a nice tart balance to the whole experience. Thx for sharing your experience.

Hmm, my weakness is strawberries with whipped cream. I've never tried condensed milk. That sounds like an excellent alternative. $15 for 30 minutes? Steal of a deal!

Since I have a difficult time not dipping into condensed milk when I make baked goods, I can only imagine what a condensed-milk covered strawberry would taste like!
