Praha

While in Prague, of course we visited the Old Town Square (Staromestske Namesti). The day we went, the square was more densely crowded than usual with tourists because the square was turned into a FanZone! A FanZone is basically a big area where hundreds and thousands of soccer fans gather to watch Euro 2008 soccer matches on a big screen TV. It was a beautiful setting to watch soccer in. Surrounded by historic monuments and buildings such as the famous Astronomical Clock and St. Nicholas Church.
We watched the Russia vs. Spain game in a huge crowd of rowdy people. Spain beat Russia big time with 3-0! While in Prague I came across a few stands selling Trdelnik, a traditional Czech Sweet Pastry. I was initially lured to the booth by the sweet vanilla scent filling the air.

The Trdelnik is made by a very interesting method. They wrap the fresh dough around rotating hot metal sticks and actually "grill" the dough. The sweet dough is grilled until it is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The pastry is then covered in sugar and crushed almonds.
This tube bread tasted surprisingly amazing that it made me swoon. mmm... just thinking about it again is making me drool.
