Joe's Restaurant

Hubby and I went down to Venice today for lunch. We walked up and down the sidewalks watching the freaks doing their thing, and sat on the sand while soaking up the sun.
We went to Joe's Restaurant for the lunch special that I've read so much about. This place is a Michelin rated 1 star restaurant and you can enjoy a 3 course meal for 18 bucks. Not too shabby.
The meal started off with a variety of warm and fresh baked bread with an olive spread.
Hubby got the soup of the day for an appetizer: lentil soup. A little too hot to be eating bean soup I thought...
I got the grilled Spanish octopus salad with spicy chick peas and coriander. This was so tasty!
For the main course hubby had grilled Hanger steak, fingerling potatoes, chick peas and sweet onions in chimichurri sauce. (Sorry it's hard to see these photos because we ate outside and there were so many shadows).
My main entree was east coast Haddock with mixed summer pole beans with a fennel puree. Very delicate and yummy. For dessert we got the peach melba with verbena ice cream and peach nectar. Overall, Joe's was a cozy and restaurant with great food at an affordable price. Since the recession, there have been great deals going on at many restaurants in our area. I love eating great food for a great price.
